This of course evaluates $=0$. However the implementation in rgslib is such that gratingAspectAngles calculates these angles with respect to an imaginary central grating of the RGA, and hence $\phi_0$ and $\psi_0$ are the angles of incidence on this grating corresponding to an on-axis source.
