Dear Colleagues,

Target of Opportunity (ToO): SN 2002ap data available

SN 2002ap was observed by XMM-Newton on Feb 2 2002 (from 00:36:15 to 10:17:23 UTC), 4 days after discovery (IAU Circular 7810), for a total exposure time of 37 ksec. The ODF files are now available in the XMM-Newton anonymous ftp site:

1st VILSPA SAS Workshop announcement

The 1st VILSPA SAS Workshop will be held at the XMM-Newton Science Operation Center from May 8 to May 10 2002. It aims at providing XMM-Newton users, having no or little experience of XMM-Newton data analysis, with an introduction to the procedures and techniques to successfully reduce and analyze XMM-Newton data.

The final program, together with registration and logistics information, is available at the URL:
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_user_support/sas_workshop/1st_circular.shtml

The attendance to the workshops will be strictly limited to 20 participants. Deadline for registration is March 15, 2002.

New XMM-Newton web pages

The XMM-Newton web site has been radically restructured. The URL is still:
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/

However, the organization and the content of the site have underwent substantial changes. Please, do not forget to update your bookmarks! We will be pleased by your visit, and would be grateful for any further suggestions you may have for improvements.

Yours sincerely,
