XMM-Newton Observation of Jupiter

Jupiter was observed by XMM-Newton in revolution 620 for ~100 ksec starting on 2003-04-28@16:23 UT. Since the equatorial jovian day
lasts 35730 sec, the XMM-Newton observation covered almost 3 jovian days.
Information on the XMM-Newton Jupiter observation is available at the URL:

http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_news/items/Jupiter/index.shtml

On this page you can find preliminary data processing results, including images and spectra, together with info on the availability
of the related data files.

3rd VILSPA SAS Workshop: reminder

There are still a few places available to attend the 3rd VILSPA SAS Workshop, which will be held from October 8 to 10, 2003.

The SAS Workshops aim at providing potential XMM-Newton users, having no or little experience of XMM-Newton data analysis,
with an introduction to the procedures and techniques to successfully reduce and analyze XMM-Newton data.
No specific knowledge of X-ray data analysis is, in principle, required to attend the workshop. Astronomers with experience in
wavelengths other than X-rays are warmly encouraged to apply.

Everybody interested to attend should fill-in and submit the pre-registration form, available at the URL:

http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_user_support/sas_workshop3/index.shtml

The deadline for pre-registration is July 15, 2003.

Yours sincerely,
