Deadline for Abstract Submission: Friday 28th February

As announced in a previous issue of this Newsletter, the XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising a major astrophysical symposium from Monday 16th to Thursday 19th June 2014 in Dublin, Ireland, see http://xrayuniverse.esa.int

We take the opportunity to remind of the deadlines for abstract submission and registration:

SAS Users Guide updated

The Users Guide to the XMM-Newton Science Analysis System has been updated for SAS version 13.5 in order to include the latest information on data analysis methods and updated SAS tasks.

The guide is available from the XMM-Newton Proposers Info Documents and Manuals Web page (Section: Data Analysis) at:

14th XMM-Newton SAS Workshop

The XMM-Newton SOC announces the 14th SAS Workshop, which will be held at the European Space Astronomy Centre of ESA, near Madrid (Spain), from the 2nd to the 6th of June 2014.

The SAS Workshop provides an introduction to the procedures and techniques of the Science Analysis System to reduce and analyse astronomical X-ray data from the XMM-Newton Observatory. The 5-day workshop is organised around 5 half-days of presentations and 5 half-days of practical training sessions. The sessions cover all aspects of data reduction and data analysis for all the X-ray instruments and the Optical Monitor on board XMM-Newton.
