XMM-Newton Science Archive (XSA) v8.3 release and XSA v7.2 discontinued

A new version of the XMM-Newton Science Archive (XSA v8.3) is available at:

     https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/xmm-newton/xsa

Search by "File" is now possible for up to 1000 names or positions (in previous XSA versions this was limited to 400 entries). Also, the Mosaic ODF sub-sets are now searchable by coordinates.

As announced in a previous issue of this Newsletter (#151), the old XSA v7.2 java interface and associated AIO client files, which do not provide access to the updated EPIC, Slew Survey and OM catalogues, to the full reprocessed pipeline products or to the data ingested after July 2013, will be discontinued in January 2015.

Anticipated timeline for next XMM-Newton Announcement of Opportunity: AO-15

The planned key milestones for the fifteenth XMM-Newton "Announcement of Opportunity" have been established. Within this AO-15 a new call to submit proposals for observations to be performed with the XMM-Newton observatory will be issued.

To be prepared for this, please find below the anticipated timeline:

 Final OTAC approved programmemid December 2015
   
For approved proposals only:
 Start of phase II proposal submissionTuesday 12 January 2016
