Release note for pipeline 02000038/20011207.102945 The previous production pipeline (version 04000006/20010907.155438, prod2) used SAS 5.1.4 ie xmmsas_20010904_1900. The new pipeline started operations on 07 Dec 2001. It is version 02000038/20011207.102945 (prod), and uses SAS 5.2.1 (ie xmmsas_20011206_1713). Summary: -------- Odfingest now recognises all modes, and is much more robust against inconsistent ODF information. Observation summary html product now includes data_mode (useful in case of undefined mode). Product ordering & completeness improved in pipeline summary html products. Data subspace and time conversion made more robust. Correct product grouping scheme. Log product now written as Bourne shell script to ensure executability. Galactic coords added to product index product. EPIC source list fluxes calculated with new ECFs (SSC-LUX-TN-0059 issue 2.0), they now include the source EEF and vignetting corrections that were applied. Background spline modelling more robust. Only apply EPIC background flare GTI to images if it is .gt.1000 sec. Definition of EPIC source search likelihood now independant of number of images, set to 10. EPIC hardness ratio definitions now camera-specific. Now apply background GTI when screening MOS for bad pixels. MOS bad pixel finding uses hardcoded PSF. Improved low energy CTI for PN eFF mode. PN images now made with PATTERN.le.12 & FLAG.le.131072, and excluding events ON_OFFSET_COLUMN if PI.lt.500. EPIC PN background GTIs use background scaled to window area, GTI threshold changed from 6 to 10, require .ge.100 pixels to make background timeseries, and use new parameters (and 7-15 keV) when making background mask for badpixfind. OM fast mode support included for first time: fast mode image products made, source light curve and light curve plot products made. OM low resolution full frame (engineering-2) mode support added for first time. New OM multi-exposure (single filter) full frame image and image plot products added. OM source list positions now overlay sources in image, source list more complete in crowded regions, and has corrected position error values. Remove spurious #ERR strings from RGS logs. Use any MOS mode image in preference to PN as RGS source position. RGS image plots have more robust colour scaling.
