Summary release note for ppsprod-XX.XX
===================================

Pipeline Version: 19.05_20210225_1715
Pipeline name: ppsprod
Release Date: XXXX-XX-XX
SAS Manifest: xmmsas_XXXXXX_XXXX

Summary
=======

This version of the pipeline is based on public SAS19 version
and does not include major changes related to source detection
although the method to filter flaring background periods in
observations with multiple exposures in a given EPIC has been
modified (see below).

Improvements in calibrations are not listed here as they can be found
in SAS and/or CCFs release notes. Only the ma

i) a new product is included for sources that might suffer pile-up
effects in EPIC-pn camera. A file with multiple spectra (OGIP
compliant) is created with
i.1 only single events in the nominal circular source extraction region
i.2 only double events in the nominal circular source extraction region
i.3-n single and double events in a series of anular extraction regions
with increasing core excising radius.

ii) the same threshold level is applied to all exposures of the same
EPIC camera within the same observation. In-band background light
curves from the individual exposures are combined to find the
threshold level that optimizes the detection of the weak sources.

iii) lightcurves of OM sources detected in Fast Mode windows in
multiple exposures are combined into a single plot.

iv) OM rates are save in an OGIP compliant PHA spectrum file for
sources identified as possible counterpart of an EPIC source.

v) for EPIC sources having OM sources within their position error
circle a plot is created with the EPIC fluxes in the 5 standard energy
bands and the fluxes of the OM sources through the available OM
filters. The file with the plot also includes OM finding charts from
all available filters as well as the combined color coded EPIC image.
