ABSTRACT
We propose a legacy class observation of 11 groups and clusters of galaxies with a total exposure time of 1590 ks to study the enrichment history in a large sample of 29 clusters and groups. This sample will be a definitive sample, because it comprises all nearby clusters that can be observed successfully with RGS. Using the combined power of RGS and EPIC, we will put constraints on the SNIa explosion mechanism, SNcc models and the IMF in the cluster core regions through accurate abundance measurements of 10 elements. The deep EPIC data will allow us to map the spatial distribution of iron, and in some cases silicon, to determine the enrichment mechanism operating in the Intra-Cluster Medium.
