Blazars & BLLac

Like the radio galaxies these sources are again strong radio emitters, characterized by extreme variability across the whole electromagnetic spectrum. Their spectral energy distribution is dominated by components, generated in a relativistic jet: synchrotron emission and inverse Compton from the jet relativistic electron population. Both components contribute to the X-ray emission, in a fraction which depends on the detailed spectral properties of each object.
