XMM-Newton first-light observation of the group of galaxies Hickson 16. The top image shows the optical and ultraviolet emission as detected with the Optical Monitor (OM). The bottom image has been obtained with the EPIC X-ray cameras. False colors indicate the range of energies of the X-ray emission of the galaxies, red corresponds to 800 eV and blue to >3 keV. The physical scale across the image corresponds to 200 kpc. Investigator(s): Turner, M.J.L.; Reeves, J.N.; Ponman, T.J et al.
